Pupils at Whiteley Primary School were the winners of the musical competition hosted by the Rotary Club of Locks Heath.

They were presented with a trophy and commended for their efforts by president of the Rotary Club David Bevis.

Around 50 enthusiastic children and their music teachers took part in the contest after having rehearsed during their free time throughout the year for the event at the Victory Hall in Warsash.

The standards were extremely high meaning the judges – headed by Tony Linford, the conductor and musical director for the Southampton All Stars Big Band Sound – had a hard time deciding the prize-winner.

St John the Baptist School, Locks Heath and Hook with Warsash School also took part.

Charitable donations were collected at the concert for the Help 4 Harvey campaign for three-year-old Harvey Young, who suffers from Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy, to have a life-changing operation in America to help him walk unaided.
