Here are some fast facts on the shopping centre:
- Whiteley is a 320,000 sq ft retail and leisure development.
- With 58 shops, restaurants and cafés, there is a blend of well-known brands and local independent retailers
- Today Whiteley is 91 per cent let, with 48 stores open and a further 10 to open during the summer
- The opening hours are:
- 9am-8pm Monday to Friday
- 9am-7pm Saturday
- 11am-5pm Sunday
- The restaurants will be open until 11pm every night apart from Sundays when they close at 10.30pm
- The Treehouse at Whiteley is a unique pop up events space. The only one of its kind in the UK, it is set to feature a programme of exciting events for 2013
- Neil Carter is the Centre Manager at Whiteley. Previously Neil was Centre Manager at Newbury and County Mall in Crawley.
- Planning for stage two of the development has been approved, comprising of 30,000 sq ft of leisure and community space at ground floor level with a nine-screen Cineworld cinema above. Construction work would commence in early 2014 with completion scheduled for spring 2015
- The demolition of the former site and the construction of the all-new Whiteley was carried out in 98 weeks
- World renowned sculpture artist, Lucy Casson designed the bronze animal sculptures, which are located throughout the scheme.
