Tributes have been paid to a well-known former Warsash councillor and Mayor of Fareham who has died.
Former Fareham mayor and Warsash Councillor Jerry Jerrard
Dr Harold George Jerrard, who was known as Jerry, represented Warsash for 22 years from 1973.
During that time he served as mayor in 1984/85 and leader of Fareham Borough Council from 1991 to 1993.
The current Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Dennis Steadman, said: “Jerry devoted much of his time to the community as a councillor for Warsash, leader and as mayor. He will be sadly missed and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
Councillor Trevor Cartwright, who currently represents Warsash, said: “I knew him in his latter years. He was a councillor and the leader. He did a very good job.”
Dr Jerrard served on several of the council’s committees, including the Staff and Establishment Committee, and the Roads and Works Committee, which he chaired.
