A Sarisbury Green man who was arrested after driving while almost three times the legal alcohol limit had already been banned after a previous drink driving offence.
Hassen Essaid, 39, of Winnards Park, was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for a year, after he was caught driving a Peugeot 306 car in Warsash Road on February 2 despite being disqualified from driving.
When he was breathalysed by police he was found to have 95 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – almost three times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.
The court said Essaid, who admitted the offence, had shown a “flagrant disregard for court orders” as they gave him the suspended prison sentence and banned him from driving for four years.
Essaid was also ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.
He has to pay victim surcharge of £80 and court costs of £85.
