Staff at a Locks Heath supermarket donned rock-and-roll gear to mark the announcement of its charity of the year.
Wearing fancy dress to a Rock Around the Clock themed event the workers at The Co-operative in Centre Way wanted to portray the care given by chosen charity Carers Trust is 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The charity was formed last year when The Princess Royal Trust for Carers and Crossroads Care came together and will benefit from The Co-operative’s year-long fundraising.
It provides support for 14 to 25-year-old carers.
Alan Dickerson, Manager of the Locks Heath store, said: “The store team is always really keen to get behind charity fundraising, and our Rock Around the Clock themed launch was a fun way of raising the profile of a really worthwhile cause.
“I think customers enjoyed the spectacle and we look forward to doing more fundraising activity throughout the year.”
It is estimated around seven million carers go unpaid across the UK, including around 12,000 in the Fareham area.
The Co-operative group hopes to raise £5m for the Carers Trust from its stores nationwide.
