A charity zumbathon in Sarisbury Green raised £183 for a teenager to have proton therapy in America for an inoperable brain tumour.
People packed into Brookfield School’s hall and danced to the beats to raise money for 16-year-old Sam John, who was diagnosed with pilocytic astrocytoma in 2006, and who needs to travel overseas for the treatment.
The treatment is being funded by the NHS, but the John family need to raise cash for travel, accommodation and any additional treatment.
Lisa Angell, a family friend of Sam who organised the event, wanted to raise money for Sam’s cause Mission for Sam.
The 40-year-old of Beck Close in Sarisbury Green said: “We all had an amazing laugh and did very well under the instruction of Caroline Taylor, a hard task for her with so many novices, but she rose to the occasion.
“We raised a fantastic £183.”
