A dementia specialist officially opened a new care home in Park Gate at a celebratory launch event with residents and workers.
Renowned dementia expert, Professor Anthea Innes, Director of the Bournemouth University Dementia Institute visited Hamble Heights in Botley Road to meet its new residents, staff, councillors, healthcare officials, and business partners.
David Hines, CEO of Hamble Heights, outlined the innovative thinking behind the purpose-built home and its state-of-the-art facilities across a complete range of care needs – including nursing and specialist dementia care.
Prof Innes spoke about the importance of high quality facilities in the UK and said: “Dementia is such an important issue for today’s ageing society. Therefore high quality facilities, like those offered here at Hamble Heights, play such an important part in enriching the lives of our elderly population and those individuals and families affected by dementia.”
The first resident of Hamble Heights, Janet Smith, then joined Professor Innes in cutting the ceremonial ribbon. Guests enjoyed a celebratory lunch and tours of the facilities.
