“To my surprise I won,” said Vicky, of Park Glen. “I was completely taken aback by being nominated in the first place. To win was an incredible feeling. It was overwhelming.”

Having played the game at St John’s Primary School in Titchfield Common, Brookfield School, and then Barton Peveril Sixth Form College, she  used her skills in the sport to study Sports Development at the University of Portsmouth.

She gained her level one coaching course and has since continued through to her level three qualifications and spends her evenings coaching the university team, adults at a Back to Netball scheme in Totton and the Fareham Fireflys club, which train at Brookfield and Henry Cort secondary schools.

“It was really nice to collect the award in front of university friends and netballers, which is where my coaching all began,” said Vicky, who also works at Fareham College as a college sport maker.

As part of her prize she  won a glass trophy engraved with her name and a £250 bursary to spend on further coaching qualifications.
